Wells are the primary means to access the subsurface. Most wells are vertical oriented, some are horizontal.
Wells are drilled by drilling services depending on intented use/customer:
Water wells (drinking)
Monitoring wells
Geotechnical borings
Oil/Gas wells
Large diameter shallow wells (tube wells)
