Introduction to EPANET Program
This lesson introduces the EPANET computer program for pipe network analysis.
The program computes steady state pressures and flows in a network given node elevations, demands, and pipe properties.
The program is mature (20+ years of development) and is one of a few computation engines used for such simulation (KYPIPE is another computation engine). Most professional software uses some variant of the EPANET engine (but their own interface); a few companies reversed engineered their own engines for specific computational speed-ups to support their clients. The underlying intellectual technology is the same.
The combination of the user interface, and the tested computation engine makes the program straightforward enough that a cat can use it if he can avoid chasing the mouse for sport!
